The first rain...

To start off with my 1st ever blog, I choose this day, the day when my favorite season commences. Yes! Its the monsoon. Its finally here and I got to see the first pour down at 2 A.M. yesterday.

Its the same every year as far as I recollect. The routine of silent nights starts getting replaced with false alarms of thundering and then, rain lovers wake up to see through their windows or balconies whether its THE day. After a week or two of disappointment, THE day finally arrives. That is how it arrived this year too.

The fun part is to wake up in the middle of the night and look at the rain, hold out your hand through the window and feel the droplets and even better, to go back to sleep thinking of how beautiful and fresh the surrounding is going to appear the next morning.

Often, the regularly needed alarm seems to lose to the amazing smell of earth which wakes me up early in the next morning. And then, the first thing I do is go out in my balcony and have a look around. The first thing that always catches my eye is the washed trees, their leaves appearing to be born just yesterday. Then comes the road, with uneven strips of wet and dry. And finally, the dusty surfaces all of sudden appearing nice and clean.

After the usual course of the morning, and my inability to stop appreciating the awesome weather, I attempt to study. I know it is not really a lucrative option to study in the middle of this awesome weather, but somehow, as always, my exam's ending week overlaps with the commencing week of this season. So, the effective monsoon for me, starts a week or two later. Yet, the plans of the treks to be carried out in the weeks after the exams begin to spawn even in the study section of my brain, effectively making the last few papers the toughest for me. To exemplify, I am sitting here writing my 1st blog instead of studying.

In short, rains give me another strong reason to stop working/studying and start enjoying and half of today too was enjoyed very well. So, I look forward to the treks and to write more blogs describing each of them. Happy Monsoon !
